The Covenant Renewed

Moses pleads for Yahweh's presence to travel with Israel and then asks to see his glory, so Yahweh descends on Sinai in cloud, proclaims his own name as merciful and gracious, and Moses worships and begs him to pardon the people and take them as his inheritance; Yahweh seals a renewed covenant, commanding Israel to destroy foreign altars, keep the appointed feasts, and observe the Sabbath, while Moses remains with him forty days and forty nights and writes the ten commandments on fresh stone tablets.
