Story · 4 parts
Sennacherib sweeps through Judah's cities and forces Hezekiah to hand over the temple's stripped silver and gold, yet the Assyrian king still sends his commander Rabshakeh to demand Jerusalem's surrender — mocking any trust in Egypt or in Yahweh himself, and boasting that no god has ever saved a nation from Assyria. The people on the wall stay silent as commanded, and Hezekiah's officials return to him with torn garments, the city holding its breath at the edge of catastrophe with no rescue yet in sight.
