Story · 3 parts
Leaving Esther's banquet in high spirits, Haman is enraged when Mordecai refuses to rise for him at the gate; he goes home, gathers his wife Zeresh and his friends, and boasts of his riches, his many children, his promotion above all princes, and his exclusive invitation to the queen's table — whereupon Zeresh and the friends advise him to have a fifty-cubit gallows built and to ask the king to hang Mordecai on it before the next banquet.
