Ezekiel's Signs of Exile

Yahweh commands Ezekiel to dig through a city wall and carry his baggage out through the hole in full view of the people—a living sign of coming exile. The next morning Ezekiel explains that the act foretells Jerusalem's prince being led out in darkness into captivity, while a scattered remnant survives to confess Israel's sins among the nations.
