Clean and Unclean Traditions

At Gennesaret, crowds flock to Jesus and the sick are healed at the mere touch of his garment; then Pharisees from Jerusalem challenge him because his disciples eat with unwashed hands, and he fires back that they honor God with their lips while using traditions like Corban to nullify God's commands—before telling the crowd that true defilement comes not from what enters a person but from the evil pouring out of the heart, and when his disciples ask him to explain privately, he spells it out: all foods are clean, and it is the corrupt things rising from within that truly defile.
